Tips to Manage A Bloating Waistline

Updated: Mar 30, 2024

Feeling bloated? Well, you can manage your waistline and lose inches without even trying. Some of my personal secrets that I share with my clients are as follows:

  • Read ingredients & food packaging labels: ingredients tell us what is in the food starting with the most used ingredient to the least used. So if sugar is listed first or second then the product is mostly sugar. Instead look for natural ingredients such honey, molasses, brown or cane sugar listed further down the ingredients list; avoid high fructose corn syrup, refined sugar, corn syrup.

  • Eliminate White condiments such as ranch, mayo, liquid creams, creamy sauces. These products are fat and calories dense & often under estimated.

  • Choose 100% whole grain over white & processed products. Just because it’s brown and says WHEAT doesn’t mean it’s 100% whole grain. Don’t be fooled by labeling!

  • Indulge in dark green leafy vegetables vs. starchy veggies. Green vegetables are richer in nutrients. Starchy vegetables are higher in carbohydrates with little fiber which includes: carrots, zucchini, corn, potatoes & squash etc.

  • Eat fruit with fibrous edible skin such as: apples, pears, grapes, plums, peaches

  • Avoid soda and drink water, herbal tea, or 100% juice, which is always the best choice!

  • Use a snack size zip lock bag for snacks in order to avoid the urger to grab quick sugary snacks.

  • Exercise regularly for at least 30-40 minutes on most days. You don't have to spend hours in the gym...Just be consistent and move!

Recap:

Stay hydrated and drink water (eliminate soda and sugary beverages

Exercise and keep moving to increase gut motility and limit bloating

Increase your dietary fiber and include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains

Swap out heavy creams with low fat dairy-free sources

Read nutrition facts labels and ingredients to avoid unhealthy choices that appear nutritious
